Geologic site visits
Purpose
Want to learn more about the geology of your private land?
Have a group that’s interested in a geologic outing?
We might be able to help!
Under the right circumstances, we can travel to your site to explore and interpret it. This lets you get a customized geologic experience, and lets us see features we'd otherwise never access.
Our site visits are for educational purposes only: we're not licensed to offer engineering or other consulting. But we can offer you our diverse experience and perspectives on the geology, ecology, and history of the Ozark region!
Testimonial
“We were extremely satisfied with the field walk and talk by Eric and Joanna at our place in Washington County. Their knowledge and enthusiasm about not just geology, but ecology in general were impressive and commendable.
“As retired teachers, we were impressed with how they gauged their audience and answered all the questions with clarity and patience, balancing the line between answers that were too abstract and technical on the one hand or too simplistic on the other. Their knowledge was comprehensive and they worked well together, adding to each other's description without stepping on each other's toes.
“They led us on a field walk, and again intuitively sensed what the audience could and couldn't handle. We invited about twenty friends and acquaintances, all of whom were deeply impressed by the Ozark Outsiders. We would definitely recommend inviting them to come to your property for a learning experience you will long remember and never regret.”

Video of site visit
Another site visit host filmed much of the visit for his own later reference, and graciously agreed to let us cut some footage together into a video summary. This is a great way to see how we study and interpret geology live on-site. Thanks to Walt M for making this possible!
Region & cost
We're self-employed, so any site visit comes with expenses. We ask that you're able to cover reasonable travel costs and professional time. We're open to negotiating terms that suit both parties. A great way to balance this is to invite a group of people to attend, and collectively contribute to the fund. This spreads out the cost and the value!
Right now we can only offer this in Missouri, as we're not registered to do business in Arkansas or Oklahoma. If you have an amazing non-Missouri site, contact us anyway for future consideration! We'll discuss exact travel distances and logistics privately with serious inquiries.
How to inquire
Before contacting us, put together a proposal from your end, considering:
How large and/or rugged is the property?
What do you want to learn?
Are you intending a group or personal experience?
What total time on-site are you expecting?
What's your time frame for scheduling?
What's your budget?
Once you contact us, expect some negotiation as we collectively work out the best approach.
